In a landmark event at the Supreme Court in Accra, Justice Noble Jerome Nkrumah of the Court of Appeal on Wednesday administered the oath of office to newly appointed members of the National Media Commission (NMC).
Following the swearing-in ceremony, the 18-member body elected Prof. Akua Biritwum as Chairperson, marking a historic moment as she becomes the first woman to lead the Commission since its inception in 1993. Prof. Biritwum, representing the Office of the President, will serve a three-year term. She is joined by Richard Mawuli Quashigah as the second presidential nominee on the Commission.
The Commission’s diverse membership reflects representation from key institutions and civil society organizations across Ghana’s media and governance landscape.
