FRI, 23 MAY 2025

The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has issued a stern warning to the public in response to reports of individuals fraudulently using its name to solicit money under the pretense of offering scholarships.

In a statement released on Friday, May 23, GETFund disclosed that certain individuals have been impersonating officials of the Fund, attempting to extort money from unsuspecting members of the public with false promises of scholarship awards.

"GETFund does not charge any fees at any stage of its scholarship application or award process," the statement emphasized. "No individual or organization has been authorized by the Fund to collect money on its behalf for any purpose related to scholarship awards."

Management of GETFund made it clear that such schemes are entirely fraudulent and should be treated as criminal activity. The public has been urged to remain cautious and to report any suspicious activity either to law enforcement or directly to the GETFund Secretariat.

The Fund also stated that it bears no responsibility for any financial loss suffered as a result of engaging with these fraudulent entities. It reiterated its unwavering commitment to upholding transparency, fairness, and integrity in all scholarship-related operations.

With scholarship demand remaining high nationwide, GETFund is encouraging prospective applicants to seek information only through its official channels to avoid falling victim to scams.
