The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has categorically denied claims circulating in the media that the institution has partnered with Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) to regulate or sanitise Ghana’s gold sector.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page on Thursday, May 15, Mr. Gyamfi dismissed the reports as baseless and misleading, urging the public to ignore them.
“Fake news alert: The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has no dealings, contract, partnership or relationship whatsoever with SML. Any such claim is completely false and should be treated with utmost contempt,” he stated.
Mr. Gyamfi’s remarks come amid heightened scrutiny over the regulation of Ghana’s gold trade and various reforms introduced by GoldBod under his leadership. He reiterated that the public should rely only on verified information from official GoldBod communications.
