Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 elections, has pledged that workers who have lost their jobs will be given top priority when the NPP returns to power.
Addressing supporters and residents in Takoradi during the party’s Thank You Tour on Saturday, April 26, 2025, Dr. Bawumia expressed compassion for those who have suffered job losses in recent times.
“I know how it feels to lose your job, your daily bread,” he said, acknowledging the struggles many displaced workers face. He affirmed the party’s recognition of their sacrifices and hardships, assuring them that steps would be taken to restore their livelihoods.
Promising a renewed focus on employment under the next NPP administration, Dr. Bawumia announced that specific job creation policies would be directed towards those most impacted by the economic downturn.
“I assure you that in the next NPP administration, you will be prioritised for jobs,” he declared, receiving a warm reception from the gathered crowd.
The Thank You Tour serves as part of the NPP’s broader efforts to reconnect with its grassroots supporters and demonstrate its commitment to rebuilding trust and delivering hope ahead of the December elections.
Dr. Bawumia further stressed that revitalising the economy, supporting businesses, and securing sustainable jobs for the youth and affected workers remain central pillars of the NPP’s vision for the future.
