The Ashanti Regional chapter of MTN Ghana has donated food items valued at GH₵20,000 to the office of the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam.
Additionally, a cash contribution of GH₵10,000 was included in the package.
Among the donated food items were bags of rice, assorted soft drinks, packs of bottled water, boxes of cooking oil, and a ram, among others. The presentation took place at the forecourt of the Kumasi Central Mosque on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
According to officials from the telecommunications company, this gesture demonstrates MTN's appreciation for the unwavering loyalty shown by the Muslim community in the region. It is also a way for MTN to express support and goodwill to Muslims as they approach the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Alhaji Ustaz Ahmed Seidu, Executive Secretary to the Regional Chief Imam, received the items on behalf of the Chief Imam and the entire Muslim community in the region. In his address to the media, Alhaji Ustaz expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for their generosity, emphasizing that the company has consistently supported Muslims in the area.
"MTN is a friend to Muslims. This is not the first time they have done this, and I hope it will not be the last. We will continue to pray for the success of MTN Ghana," he stated.
Simon Amoh, Senior Manager of General Trade at MTN Ghana, described the donation as an annual tradition, highlighting that MTN strives to identify with various beliefs. He also noted that similar donations were made across the country.
He wished Muslims well as they conclude the month of fasting.
