The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has rejected requests from some traders affected by the Adum PZ fire incident to reconstruct their structures in the area.
Following the devastating fire on Friday, March 21, 2023, which destroyed hundreds of shops, the victims expressed their desire to rebuild.
In response, Dr. Amoakohene urged them to be patient and allow experts to assess the situation first. He emphasized that individual traders would not be permitted to rebuild until sufficient information about the incident is collected.
In an interview with this reporter, the Minister announced that a committee would be established to meet with the leadership of the traders for broader consultation. He explained that this would provide the necessary information for the government to offer adequate assistance to those affected.
Dr. Amoakohene assured the impacted traders that the government is committed to supporting them in their recovery efforts.
