Five individuals have been arrested for allegedly attempting to loot goods from businesses affected by a devastating fire in the Adum Central Business District of Kumasi on Friday, March 21, 2025.
The fire, which erupted in the early hours of the morning, engulfed several shops, sending traders into panic as they rushed to salvage whatever merchandise they could.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded swiftly, battling the flames to prevent further destruction. However, amidst the chaos, opportunistic individuals reportedly attempted to steal from vulnerable businesses, prompting security personnel to intervene.
Law enforcement agencies have since launched an investigation into both the cause of the fire and the alleged looting attempts.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with ongoing inquiries to ensure the safety and security of the affected community.
