The Ghana Police Service's leadership has been reshuffled by Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
He has named new leaders for important departments, such as the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
The reconstitution, announced in a press statement on Tuesday, March 19, is part of efforts to “ensure effective management and operational control of the Ghana Police Service.”
Ms. Lydia Yaako Donkor, Deputy Commissioner of Police, has been appointed Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), with DCOP Mr. Gabriel Prince Waabu taking over as Director-General of the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD).
Other prominent appointments include COPs Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwa Addo-Danquah as Director-General of Research and Planning (R&P) and Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba as Director-General of Technical Services.
DCOP Vance Gariba will now lead the Operations Directorate, and DCOP Eric Ken Winful will take over as Director-General of the National Police Academy and Training School (NAPD).
The move also affected regional commands, with new commanders selected in the Western, Central, Bono, Volta, and Northern regions.
The new regional commanders include DCOP Mr. Francis Kwame Tsidi (Western Region), DCOP Mr. Abraham Acquaye (Central Region), and ACP Mr. Wisdom Lavoe (Northern Region).
