
President John Dramani Mahama has charged newly sworn-in Inspector General of Police (IGP) COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno with tackling corruption, preventing abuse of power, and fostering professionalism within the Ghana Police Service.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony at Jubilee House, President Mahama acknowledged the growing threats of violent crime, cybercrime, and fraud, emphasizing the critical role of the police in safeguarding law and order. He urged IGP Yohuno to lead with integrity, discipline, and innovation to strengthen public trust in law enforcement.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of police officers, the President assured that resources would be provided to enhance their work. He also expressed appreciation to the outgoing IGP, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, for his service and called on all officers to support the new leadership.
In his address, IGP Yohuno pledged to prioritize the "resetting agenda" of the police service, highlighting community policing and strategic partnerships as essential tools for crime prevention and effective law enforcement.
His tenure is expected to introduce key reforms and security enhancements aimed at restoring public confidence in the Ghana Police Service.
