Renowned pollster and lead researcher at Global InfoAnalytics, Musa Dankwa, has criticized the Supreme Court for delaying its ruling on whether a sitting president has the authority to remove security heads, particularly in light of John Mahama’s return to power.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, March 14, Dankwa questioned why the court had not expedited the case, especially with the change in government.

“The Supreme Court reserves the right to decide which cases it must expedite for quick resolution.

The application for a ruling of the removal of security heads by presidents, I would have thought would have been deemed to be urgent due to the pending election and that a new government would require clarity on the matter before taking any action,” he stated.

He expressed concern over speculation that Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare may be removed from office, comparing the situation to the controversial removal of former Auditor-General Daniel Domelovo.

“Justice delayed is justice denied, just like the way the court handled Domelovo’s case. I don’t know the IGP’s issues, but he is the most popular IGP in recent history. If I were the president, I would not have fired the IGP,” Dankwa added.
