Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey, Dr. Zenator Agyeman-Rawlings, has urged the country to move beyond rhetoric and take decisive steps toward achieving gender equality.
In a statement marking International Women’s Day on Saturday, March 8, 2025, she emphasized the importance of translating words into meaningful action.
“True equity requires us to back our words with action,” she stated.
Reinforcing her call for progress, she added on Facebook, “Let us accelerate action for gender equality.”
Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings acknowledged the immense contributions of women across various sectors in Ghana.
“From classrooms to the markets, from boardrooms to Parliament – our contributions are undeniable,” she noted.
As a medical doctor and humanitarian, she encouraged women to challenge societal biases and support one another in the pursuit of equality.
Meanwhile, First Lady Lordina Mahama also highlighted the importance of collective action in closing gender gaps and ensuring fair representation in national development.
“The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day, ‘Accelerate Action,’ is a powerful call to step up our efforts to achieve gender equality and representation in national life,” she wrote on social media.
She further expressed confidence in President John Mahama’s leadership to continue advancing women’s empowerment and gender parity.
