Former Chief Executive Officer of the State Transport Corporation (STC), Nana Akomea, has taken a swipe at former President John Mahama for revoking public sector appointments made after December 7, 2024.
The controversy stems from a directive issued by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, annulling all public sector appointments and recruitments made after the December 7 elections.
The directive, justified on grounds of good governance practices, has sparked widespread debate, with critics questioning its implications.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show on Monday, February 24, Nana Akomea challenged the rationale behind the revocation by a president who promised to “reset” Ghana and offer jobs.
"Is this Mahama's method of resetting the nation as he pledged during his campaign?" Akomea queried.
He added, "Does this mean when a government in power loses an election, it has no power to do anything until the next president is sworn in? Meanwhile, he also did the same thing in December 2016. What is this? Is this the reset you talked about?"

Mahama has the right to revoke all appointments after December 7, 2024. If the NPP can't stand the pain, then they shouldn't do to others what they don't want anyone to do against them. In 2017, Akufo Addo sacked 13,000 employees appointed by the NDC, so Nana Akomea, why these senseless crocodile tears? Please give us a break. Eight years of the NPP have been wasted; Mahama needs efficient workers.
