Dr. Sa-ad Iddrisu, a newly appointed official in President John Dramani Mahama's administration, has made serious allegations of widespread corruption within the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
His claims have ignited a heated national discussion.
In a Facebook post that has garnered significant public attention, Dr. Iddrisu expressed astonishment at the financial mismanagement he has encountered since assuming his role at the Finance Ministry.
He stated, "Sitting at the Finance Ministry and seeing what is in the books, Ghanaians have really been patient with the NPP in power and in opposition now."
He further lamented that, due to the oath of secrecy and confidentiality of office, he is unable to disclose specific economic data publicly.
Dr. Iddrisu's remarks have raised serious questions about the actual condition of Ghana’s economy.
He asserted that if the public were fully aware of the financial disarray left by the Akufo-Addo administration, there would be a strong demand for immediate accountability.
"If Ghanaians actually knew the economic mess Ex-President Nana Addo and his NPP appointees left behind, we would all be advocating for a 'fast track court' to jail these 'criminal' masterminds," he alleged.
These comments have intensified calls for a comprehensive audit of the Finance Ministry’s records.
While some citizens are urging the Mahama government to present evidence of misconduct, NPP supporters contend that Dr. Iddrisu’s statements are politically motivated.
