With effect from January 2025, government has authorized a 10% rise in the base pay for Ghanaian employees in the public sector under the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS).
This was decided after discussions between organized labor under the Public Services Joint Standing Negotiating Committee (PSJSNC), the Ministry of Labor, Jobs and Employment, and the Ministry of Finance, as well as the government, represented by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC).
The increase, which will take effect from January to December 2025, was confirmed by a joint agreement signed on Tuesday, February 20.
“The Base Pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) has been increased by 10% across the board from January 2025 to December 2025,” the agreement stated.
This follows a 15% salary increase for public sector employees in 2024, which benefited more than 700,000 workers nationwide.
Similarly, the National Tripartite Committee (NTC) has announced that the National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW) will rise by 10% on March 1, 2025, from GHS18.15 to GHS19.97.
This increase, calculated for 30 days, represents GHS599.10 per month for workers on the minimum wage.
