Ghanaians will see NPP’s impact when the dust settles — Ahiagbah

Ghanaians will eventually recognize the positive impact of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) administration when the dust settles, the party’s National Communications Director, Richard Ahiagbah, has said.

Mr. Ahiagbah expressed confidence that the achievements of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government will soon become clear, despite the party’s historic election loss.

“We came to do the best we could, and I believe that when the dust settles, Ghanaians will see what we achieved over the past eight years,” he stated in an interview on Accra-based JoyNews’ PM Express on Wednesday, February 19.

Mr. Ahiagbah also highlighted the NPP’s current focus on restructuring and preparing for the 2028 elections, while ensuring that all accountability processes are respected.

“Our preoccupation is how we get our party ready to contest the 2028 election. As for matters of accountability, our people will be here to answer the questions,” he noted.

Addressing recent developments, Mr. Ahiagbah further noted that former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed all appointees from his immediate past administration to remain available and not evade accountability.

“There’s an effective commitment right from the former President himself. He has given a directive to ensure that our people are available to account for their actions,” he said.

“I don’t want to go into the details of what he said, but there is a clear message from the former President—an indication to stay and make sure they account for their stewardship,” Ahiagbah added.

The NPP Communications Director further emphasized that the party has no record of its officials fleeing accountability, unlike members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), whom he accused of having a history of evasion.

“We [the NPP] have no record of running away; we’ll be here and deal with the issues. It was the NDC members who ran away. My own sister, Sedinam Tamakloe, disappeared. She was tried in absentia, but she should have been here. Our party has no history of officials fleeing from accountability,” he stressed.
