Speaker Bagbin petitioned to investigate 'sit down daughter of a murderer' comment

Some constituents of Klottey Korle Constituency in the Greater Accra region have petitioned the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin to deal with some disparaging comments uttered to their Member of Parliament.

An unknown voice on the minority side in Parliament was heard shouting at Zenator Rawlings to sit down when she rose to make a point.

The voice, which is yet to be identified, said, “Sit down, you daughter of a murderer.”

The minority leader who was making a point prompted his colleagues to desist from the comment, but he insisted that there is evidence to back the fact that she is the daughter of a murderer.

However, constituents of Zenator Rawlings are of the view that the comments are disparaging and need to be investigated.

Mentioning their visit to parliament in a post shared via social media, Parliament indicated that they received the petitioners.

The post read “A delegation from the Klottey Korle Constituency today presented a petition to Parliament on disparaging comments made against their Member of the House, Dr Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings on Tuesday, 4th February.

"They petitioned the Speaker to deal with the matter urgently. The petition was received by the Clerk to Parliament, Mr Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror.”
