The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mr Ahmed Ibrahim, has said the merger of the Ministries of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs is to ensure synergy and deepen local governance for effective service delivery.
Mr Ibrahim said this when he assumed office today following his swearing-in last Friday.
He had a brief meeting with the media, Staff, Project Coordinators, Heads of Departments and Agencies under the supervision of the Ministry in Accra.
Mr Ibrahim stated that his primary focus would be on deepening decentralisation and local governance, strengthening the chieftaincy institutions to perform their roles and providing the necessary facilitation for religious institutions to perform their roles.
He added that the Ministry would also focus on sanitation and waste management to keep the cities and towns healthy and clean.
He called on staff to put their hands on deck to achieve the broad goals for the benefit of Ghanaians.
Mr Ibrahim noted that “In all these, I will work collaboratively with various stakeholders and partners including the media to achieve our vision as government and that of the Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Sector.”
