The Dean of the UPSA Law School, Professor Ernest Kofi Abotsi has stressed that it is important for Ghana to build an enduring economy beyond one driven by political pressures and factors.
He believes establishing a team to plan the National Economic Dialogue of President John Dramani Mahama’s government is a crucial step.
In a post on social media, Prof. Kofi Abotsi argued that a troubled economy demands holistic and long-term thinking.
“The establishment of a team to plan the national economic dialogue is an important step to building an enduring economy beyond one driven by political pressures & factors! A beleaguered economy demands holistic & long-term thinking,” Prof. Kofi Abotsi said in a post on X.
Ghana’s economy has suffered over the years and is currently running on support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
To address the shortfalls of the Ghanaian economy, President John Dramani Mahama has constituted a seven-member National Economic Dialogue (NED) Planning Committee as part of his 120-day Social Contract with Ghanaians.
The move is aimed at addressing the nation’s pressing economic challenges while charting a path towards sustainable development.
The committee, is led by renowned Ghanaian economist Dr. Ishmael Yamson.
