
President John Dramani Mahama has submitted a third batch of ministerial nominations to Parliament for approval.
Among the key nominees are Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah as Minister for Defence, and Samuel Nartey George as Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations.
This was contained in a statement released by the Presidency on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Acting Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu noted that the nominations were in line with the President’s commitment to assembling a competent team to deliver on his vision for the country.
Key Ministerial Nominations
The nominations include notable MPs and technocrats for critical sectors of governance.
Among them are:
• Foreign Affairs Ministry: Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP.
• Ministry of Defence: Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah.
• Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations: Samuel Nartey George, MP.
• Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources: Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, MP.
• Ministry of Health: Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, MP.
• Ministry of Environment, Science, and Technology: Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, MP.
Additionally, Kofi Iddie Adams has been nominated as Minister for Sports and Recreation, while Joseph Bukari Nikpe has been put forward for the Ministry of Transport.
Regional Ministers:
President Mahama also proposed regional ministerial appointments, including Puozuing Charles Lwanga for the Upper West Region, Joseph Addae Akwaboa for Bono Region, and Francis Owusu Antwi for Bono East Region.
The nominees are expected to appear before Parliament’s Appointments Committee in the coming days for vetting and approval.
