This is Auntie Martha, my grandfather’s first-born and a towering matriarch in our family. Now at 80, she continues to embody an enduring legacy of love and wisdom.
From my earliest memories, she has enveloped me in a cocoon of unconditional affection. The bond we share is nothing short of extraordinary; an unspoken connection that resonates deeply. Many in our family remark that i am her favourite nephew, and I proudly and wholeheartedly embrace this honour. Much of what i know and value today, i owe to her.
Despite her lack of formal education, Auntie Martha possesses a profound wisdom that far surpasses that of many learned people I’ve encountered. Her insights are a testament to her lived experiences and an inherent brilliance that shines through in all she does.
She adores my father, her younger brother, with a devotion that is both tender and fierce, a love that underscores her nurturing spirit....
She's a paragon of resilience and resourcefulness. Her exceptional business acumen has ensured that financial difficulties rarely trouble her, a feat that seems almost miraculous.
From her, i have learned the essential arts of survival and independence in a world often fraught with challenges. Her love for me is boundless, extending even to my imperfections, and for that, i hold her in the highest regard.
She wields a quiet power over me; where others struggle to persuade, her mere presence or a softly spoken word is enough to inspire action. This profound respect and love stem from the countless sacrifices she has made, not just for me but for the many children she has nurtured who aren’t even her own.
There is nothing she wouldn’t do for me. She would give her last coin and go without, ensuring my well-being above her own. And she knows, without a shadow of a doubt, that her love and sacrifices are never taken for granted. i am but a phone call away, ready to meet her needs, no matter how great or small. For those who love you with such purity deserve to be loved in equal measure.
Auntie, I have always told you how much you mean to me, but words will never fully capture the depth of my gratitude.
May your days be long, your health steadfast, and your spirit unyielding. May you grace us with your presence far beyond a century. I love you, Auntie Martha, now and forever....
