Jean Mensa and her Commissioners, Most Pampered Electoral Commissioners

Jean Mensa and her Commissioners, Most Pampered Electoral Commissioners

Mrs Jean Mensa has disappointed almost all of her admirers because her recklessness as the Electoral Commissioner appears as someone being pampered and misdirected by an unseen hand. Her recklessness in the management of the Commission had blighted the trust the electorates had in the Commission.

Based on the protection and support from the President Nana Akufo Addo Jean Mensa and her musketeers Commissioners are abusing their mandate and running the commission like their private enterprise. They've become intransigent and always combative and undermining the electoral processes with impunity.

We have seen Electoral Commissioners like Justice Josiah Ofori Boateng, Dr Kwadwo Afari-Djan and Mrs Charlotte Osei and they performed their duties with clear conscience, hence there was no need for armed guards security around them. What was the motive behind a platoon of military guards stationed at EC Head office, and Jean Mensa herself moves around with armed military guards. What could be the threat that is tormenting her to warrant a platoon of military guards.?

These current Electoral Commissioners might have done something clandestine and are afraid of their own shadows. Why should the state provide the Electoral Commissioner who is not qualified to have military guards.? This begs for an answer, or the Commissioners are being used in the execution of some clandestine underworld activities and are unable to manipulate Speaker Alban Sumana Bagbin hence the decision of the withdrawal of his military guards?

Mrs Jean Mensa led commission had entangle itself in series of controversies upon controversies in the execution of their mandate, unfortunately it appears they have allowed an unseen hand to destroy the image of the commission.

These commissioners are not prepared to learn and do not have the humility to accept mistakes, always in a combative mode, always fighting every suggestion from the opposition parties, and are very amenable to information from some mischievous people..

Due to pride and arrogance they were unable to tap into the vast knowledge of the doyen of elections in Ghana, Dr Kwadwo Afari- Djan hence their disastrous performance. The first assignment for these musketeers Commissioners was the plebiscite, which was badly organized, instead to learn from the challenges from the plebiscite rather chose to celebrate mediocrity.

It was clear the Commissioners were being controlled remotely by unseen hand and that culminated to the violence experienced during the 2020 general elections where eight people died and a lot more were injured which has fueled the suspicion, it was an orchrstrated crime by the ruling government. Mrs Jean Mensa,'s appetite for correcting the presidential results a few times heightened the suspicion the elections has been rigged in favour of the incumbent government.

The district assembly elections was badly conducted on rotational basis which finally exposed the incompetence of the EC. Instead of them eating humble pie by accepting their mistakes rather chose to engaged the media with deception, lies which they think may ameliorate the negative public perception they have attracted.

Repeatedly every opportune time they speak tried to convince the electorates they have no interest to rigged an elections who becomes the president or a member of parliament, meanwhile their conduct depicts a bias umpire, and their nefarious activities are being exposed. If they really mean well why deliberately refused to entertain questions from the Pressmen and women, they expected to highlight their communications.

It is evidently clear this Electoral Commissioner had been lawless with the tacit support of the New Patriotic Party government. We saw how they ignored an injunction secured by Sam George Member of parliament for Ningo Prampram against ECs Workshop during COVID 19. I believe we are aware how a court bailiff was reported denied entry into EC office following attempts to serve the EC commissioner.

Sadly when the controversies of results allegedly declared under threats and duress the NDC called for an emergency IPAC meeting, the EC ignored that noble call, and went ahead to re - collate the seven out of nine outstanding constituencies and declared in favor of the NPP, and hurriedly have those controversial results gazetted, and placed two constituencies on hold, Dome Kwabenya and Ablekuma North constituencies before they called an IPAC meeting to discuss the way forward on the two constituencies.

Whoever is encouraging the Electoral Commissioner to undermine the electoral processes and willfully ignores lawful orders of the courts must bow his or head in shame, and posterity would deal with them painfully

This monumental recklessness of Jean Mensa and her musketeers is highly unacceptable, can it be was deliberately engineered to support their favorite party or it is pure incompetence at play. They claimed Dome Kwabenya had three pink sheets with issues and they would want to investigate the issues further, and what was the outcome of the investigation that warrants a re - run of election at one of polling station.?

Unfortunately this reckless Commissioner wanted to waste state resources to re - run of one polling station in that constituency. Not that the results were wrong, it was recorded on a temporary collation sheet and declared. It can be corrected administravely. The EC must be blame for non adherence of CI 127 to paste the pink sheets at all polling centers. If the EC officials had done that, this dispute would not have occurred.

The courts cannot not be exonerated from this willful misconduct of the Electoral Commissioner, who repeatedly violates lawful court orders without any severe consequence. This over pampered Electoral Commissioners tends to take everything for granted and had been exposed as the most reckless and incompetent Commission Ghana had ever seen.
