Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has retained the Techiman South parliamentary seat with a decisive margin of 3,234 votes after a re-collation of results mandated by an Accra High Court.
The final certified results show Adjei-Mensah Korsah polling 46,663 votes to defeat Christopher Bayere Baasongti of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who garnered 43,429 votes. Other candidates, Donkor Moses and Bayoung Idris, secured 140 and 76 votes respectively.
A total of 91,152 votes were cast, with 844 ballots rejected.
The court order followed a prolonged dispute over the constituency’s results during the 2024 general elections.
Two polling stations with a combined total of 1,138 voters, were excluded from the final tally due to over-voting.
However, the Returning Officer, Amartey Adjaottor, noted that even if all those votes were added to Baasongti’s tally, Adjei-Mensah Korsah’s lead would remain unassailable.
“I, therefore, declare Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah as the Member of Parliament-elect for Techiman South,” the Returning Officer affirmed during the declaration today.
Techiman South was among eight constituencies the High Court directed the Electoral Commission (EC) to finalize results and announce winners to resolve lingering electoral disputes.
