Ghanaians are fed up; a time will come when no one will attend campaign rallies — MP-elect 

Joseph Azumah, the newly elected Member of Parliament for the Adansi Akrofuom Constituency on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket has warned fellow politicians about the growing dissatisfaction among Ghanaians.

In an interview on Oyerepa Breakfast Time hosted by Akua Asieduwaa, Azumah lamented the erosion of public trust caused by the failure of many politicians to fulfil their campaign promises.

He cautioned that if this trend continues, it could undermine Ghana’s democratic processes.

“A lot of politicians have made Ghanaians lose interest in politics. A time will come when no one will attend a campaign rally. No one will come out and listen to our message because the people are fed up due to unfulfilled campaign promises,” Azumah said.

The MP-elect warned that the lack of accountability and follow-through on promises could lead to a complete disengagement of citizens from the political process, a development he described as dangerous for the nation’s democracy.

Despite his concerns, Azumah expressed optimism about the possibility of reversing this trend.

He pledged to lead by example, working to regain the trust of his constituents by being transparent and delivering on his promises.

“I am committed to proving that politicians can be accountable and focused on the needs of the people,” he emphasized.

Azumah’s victory in the Adansi Akrofuom Constituency, a seat traditionally dominated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), marked a historic gain for the NDC in the Ashanti Region during the 2024 general elections.
