The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has asserted that the Akufo-Addo-led administration will leave behind a growing economy for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a Facebook post on Friday, December 13, Mr. Ahiagbah said the NDC handed over a struggling economy to the NPP in 2017 but the ruling government has significantly turned things around.
“The NDC handed the NPP a contracting economy in 2017. Eight years later, President Akufo-Addo is bequeathing the NDC with a growing economy, as acknowledged by Seth Terkper below. Ghana expects H.E. John Dramani Mahama to maintain this growth momentum without excuses,” he wrote.
Mr. Ahiagbah further emphasized that the NPP will play its role as a constructive opposition party when the NDC takes over.
“Ours will be a constructive opposition. We wish the NDC well!” he stated.
This comment follows an interview by former Finance Minister, Seth Terkper, in which he acknowledged signs of recovery in Ghana’s economy.
Speaking on Accra-based JoyNews, Mr. Terkper noted, “There are positive signals that Ghana’s economy is bouncing back to pre-Covid-19 era.”
