The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with other security agencies under the National Election Security Task Force, continues to work tirelessly to maintain peace, security, and law and order across the country.
Over the past 24 hours, no major security incidents have been reported nationwide, underscoring the success of the strategies being implemented to protect lives and property.
With the exception of a police investigation into an attack on three missionary Catholic priests in Nkwanta, the Oti region by some youth, police efforts are underway to get these suspects arrested to face justice.
Speaking at the National Election Security Task Force Press Centre at the Police Headquarters, ACP Grace Ansah Akrofi, Director of the Public Affairs Directorate, provided updates on security efforts. She confirmed that a total of 123 individuals have been arrested in connection with various incidents and are being taken through the due process of law.
Out of these, 49 suspects have been processed for court, with 16 granted court bail and 33 remanded into police and prison custody, pending further court appearances. Additionally, 70 suspects have been granted police inquiry bail in compliance with constitutional requirements.
Within the last 24 hours, four more suspects have been arrested and are currently in police custody. These individuals will be presented before the court tomorrow.
ACP Akrofi also addressed concerns about the whereabouts of Mr Abraham Ato Annan, the Effutu National Democratic Congress constituency's second vice-chairman. She confirmed that Mr Annan is in good health, with his family, and in contact with the police. She urged the public to disregard any misinformation or disinformation regarding his status.
