Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Korle-Klottey constituency, has retained the seat for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the third consecutive time, entrenching the position of the party in the area.
She secured 39,997 votes, (62.78%) of the total valid votes cast to defeat her closest contender, Mr Valentino Nii Noi Nortey of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 23,716 votes, (37.5%).
Since the 2016 elections, when Dr Agyeman-Rawlings first entered the political scene and contested, she has consistently increased her votes margin to retain the seat showing her strong support within the constituency.
In the Presidential election, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President and NPP candidate obtained 20,693 (34.39%), while Mr John Mahama, President-elect and NDC candidate polled 38,451(63.91%) of the total valid votes cast.
The rest were GCPP 38 votes (0.06%), GUM 57 (0.09), LPG 38 votes (0.01%), NDP five votes (0.01%), CPP 58 votes (0.10%), APC 26 votes (0.04), Mr Kofi Koranteng, independent seven votes (0.01), Mr George Twum Barima, independent, six votes, Nana Kwame Bediako, Independent 601 votes and Mr Alan Kyeremanten had 186 votes.
In her victory speech, Dr Agyeman-Rawlings expressed gratitude to God and her constituents for their unflinching support and trust and pledged her continued commitment to the development of the area.
