The Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has cast his vote in the Walewale Constituency of the North East Region.
In an interaction with the media, Dr. Bawumia was hopeful that he would emerge victorious at the end of the elections.
“We have worked very hard and sent our message across; and our message is well received," he said.
“The report I have received is that there is calm, and everything is going smoothly. Report I received was that queues started form at midnight in some places and it is good for our democracy,” he added.
Dr Bawumia urged prospective voters to go out in their numbers and exercise their franchise in a peaceful manner.
The NPP flagbearer believed the elections would entrench Ghana’s democratic process.
His presence in his hometown was seen as a boost for voter turnout.
