Hon. Isaac Adongo, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolgatanga Central and Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has donated patient beds, mattresses, and other health equipment to the Bolgatanga Municipal Health Directorate to support quality healthcare delivery in the municipality.
In an interview with the press during the presentation, Hon. Adongo explained that maternal health and delivery services are significant challenges in the Upper East Region. According to available statistics, many health facilities are lacking adequate delivery beds, which prompted him to intervene.
He noted that some communities do not have delivery centres, such as Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds. To address this gap, Hon. Adongo has personally funded the construction of midwifery, maternity, and family planning centres to promote safe deliveries and improve the health and well-being of pregnant women and families.
The MP and Parliamentary Candidate also acknowledged that Ghana Health Service faces challenges in equipping health facilities to ensure their functionality. He expressed gratitude that their requests for support have been met and the necessary resources have been delivered.
Mr. Tindan Louis, who received the items on behalf of the Municipal Health Directorate, emphasized that this support will help address key issues and improve services at CHPS compounds. He noted that the new beds will ensure patients have access to proper facilities.
Hon. Adongo was praised for his generosity, and he called on the government and all well-meaning Ghanaians to continue supporting the health sector to ensure better healthcare services for all.
