In the gods we trust to bring us justices than the court.
The country is in serious justice crisis, as we know of the economy. Ghanaians have known economic hardships for the past eight years under the Nana Addo-Bawumia crisis government, but the justice crisis seem to escape their attention. With the supreme court in the pocket of the NPP, the NPP and its supporters of chaos take over parliament with military support ordered by the commander in chief of the Ghana armed forces.
This morning, the 22 October 2024, the NPP hauled their party members to parliament to disrupt the activities of Parliament to please the supreme court’s choatic rulling, the president of the country, and their runningmate. As the NPP seeks to cause chaos in the country, there seem to be no “wise one” to advice them. This chaos, as is being celebrated by the NPP, has gained glorious applause from NPP supporters and the supreme court justice because, certainly, the court have been at the berk and call of the NPP. But whatever is happening today has been approved by the Supreme Court, and justices have allowed their consciences to be taken over by NPP colours.
In the state of this justice emergency in the country, what is the populace trust in the justice system?
The justice system of the country has existed for about the past eight years to serve the NPP and not the population. There have been cases such as the E-levey, the LGBT Bill, and many others on the desk of the court that have not received the attention needed because they do not please the ruling party. What has been witnessed with the Supreme Court action is to please the NPP. If today it is going down history that there happened some time parliamentary chaos in Ghana, the chaos was ushered by the Supreme Court, which has been serving the NPP since the elevation to the highest judicial office.
While the NPP and their supporters intend to cause chaos in the country, will the police service, commanded by the vice president, call for order? Anyway, if it had been peaceful Ghanaians demonstrating against galamsey, fast forward: the commander of the Ghana police service would have ordered for their arrest and the court would again serve the NPP intentions. As we all witness our justice system playing justice game in the country, we the citizens only have nothing to do but deal issues with the gods.
Like the late J. J. Rawlings rightly stated, Ghanaians have great reverence for the gods, so we have greater trust in the gods bringing justice than the justice system, which has been corrupted. The justice system has made it a point to destroy the country, but in the gods we trust.
