Bishop Salifu Amoako has said while what recently took place at East Legon was “a terrible accident,” it was not premeditated.
“It is an accident,” he emphasised.
He said this, Sunday, October 20, 2024, in front of his congregation at the Alive Chapel International, Accra.
“My son did not carry a gun to go and kill somebody,” he asserted.
The church founder and overseer’s 16-year-old son has been identified by police as the suspect driver who drove a Jaguar vehicle on top speed and rammed into an Acura vehicle in an incident which ended in the incineration of two 12-year-olds.
“I’m not the one who did it,” Bishop Amoako told the congregation. “It’s not his mother [Mouha Amoako], also.”
He argued, “it’s because of my name [Salifu Amoako] that this thing is going everywhere [viral].”
Here, he admonished his congregation to desist from attacking anyone in their effort to defend his honour as some had done on Wednesday, October 16, when he appeared in court with his wife having been charged with permitting an unlicensed person to drive.
“Who was going to mention it if this [accident] had been caused by an okada? No one would have heard about it. It’s just because of me. So be quiet and let’s see what the Lord will do,” he appealed.
