The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Sunyani West, Mr. Evans Kusi Boadum, and the Member of Parliament, who also serves as the Minister for Employment, Labour Relations, and Pensions, Mr. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, have officially handed over five project sites to RIF-CONNAC LTD for various development initiatives in local communities.
Work is expected to commence soon after the contractor takes possession of the land.
These projects, funded by the Social Investment Fund (SIF), are slated for completion within four months. They include the construction of a six-unit classroom block and an eight-seater WC toilet facility at Mantukwa, a similar six-unit classroom block and toilet facility at Kyem Amponsah, Fiapre, a four-unit teachers' quarters and a mechanized borehole at Baah Shed, Nsoatre, a two-bedroom semi-detached nurses' quarters at Boffourkrom, and a mass in-situ concrete drain at Afrasum, Nsoatre.
At separate ceremonies attended by the Chiefs, Assembly Members, and residents of the beneficiary communities, the MCE expressed his gratitude to the Member of Parliament for his dedication to the area’s development.
"What we are witnessing today is the result of his hard work, as only 23 districts nationwide are benefiting from this project," Mr. Boadum stated.
Mr. Heinz Osei Karikari, SIF Zonal Coordinator, assured attendees that funding for the projects is secured, so there is no need for concern. He encouraged the communities to cooperate with the contractor and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and timely project execution. He also revealed that, as part of the initiative, SIF would provide soft loans to residents of the Municipality at an interest rate of 12%, with further details to be shared in due course.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ignatius Baffour Awuah reaffirmed his commitment to the development of the constituency. He urged the contractor to ensure that the projects are completed on schedule and meet the highest standards of quality. He also appealed to the people to maintain their trust in him and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), calling for their support in the upcoming December 7, 2024 elections.
The Chiefs and residents expressed their appreciation for the projects being situated in their communities, recognizing their potential to enhance local development.
