Mafi Traditional Council appeals to Mahama for developmental projects during campaign visit

During a recent campaign visit to Central Tongu in the Volta Region, the chiefs of the Mafi Traditional Council made a heartfelt plea to NDC presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, urging him to prioritize key developmental projects for their community should he be re-elected as President of Ghana.

Stanley Agbozo, a member of the Volta Regional NDC Communication Team, shared that the chiefs' requests focused on enhancing infrastructure and educational opportunities in their area. One of their primary concerns is the upgrading of the Adidome Farm Institute into a veterinary college, rather than converting it into a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution as previously proposed. The chiefs believe that a veterinary college would better serve the region's agricultural needs, particularly given the area's reliance on livestock farming.

In addition to this, the chiefs called for the construction of a modern complex for the Mafi Traditional Council. They stressed the importance of having a well-equipped facility to serve as a hub for traditional governance and cultural activities within the community.

Another significant request was for the improvement of the town roads in the Mafi Traditional Area. The chiefs pointed out that the poor condition of these roads has hindered transportation and economic activities, urging John Mahama to prioritize road construction to enhance the quality of life for residents and stimulate local development.

The chiefs also expressed their gratitude to John Mahama for his continued commitment to the Mafi Traditional Area, even after his presidency ended. They noted that despite his time out of office, he has consistently honored their invitations and remained dedicated to the welfare of the people of Mafi.

In recognition of this support, the chiefs voiced a strong desire for Mahama to appoint Hon. Alexander Gabby Roosevelt Hottordze, the current Member of Parliament for Central Tongu, as the Regional Minister for the Volta Region in his next administration. They believe that Hon. Hottordze’s appointment would significantly benefit the region, given his deep understanding of its challenges and his commitment to addressing them.

The chiefs’ appeals to John Mahama were made with optimism and hope. They see in him a leader who has consistently respected and supported their community, and they trust that if given another opportunity to lead the nation, he will prioritize their needs and work toward sustainable development in the Mafi Traditional Area.

As the campaign continues, it is clear that the people of Central Tongu and the entire Volta Region have high expectations for John Mahama’s leadership. The chiefs’ requests reflect the urgent needs of their communities and their desire for a leader who will deliver on promises and bring tangible improvements to their lives.
