Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was honored on Friday with the title of Nana Ntentankesehene, meaning 'Chief of the Internet/Web,' by the Chief of Nsawam, Nana Kwamena Ansah I.
This ceremonial title was bestowed upon Dr. Bawumia during a courtesy call he made to the chief as part of his campaign tour in the Eastern Region. The honor recognizes his pioneering role in advancing Ghana's development through his digitalization initiatives.
The visit marked the start of Dr. Bawumia’s campaign activities in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency. During his address at the Nsawam Palace, Dr. Bawumia shared his vision for Ghana's future, emphasizing the transformative potential of digitalization.
Following his palace visit, Dr. Bawumia received a warm welcome at the Nsawam Market, where he interacted with traders and residents of Adoagyiri Zongo. He took the opportunity to discuss the NPP government's achievements and outline his plans for the country's continued progress.
In addition to engaging with the public, Dr. Bawumia met with key local stakeholders, including chiefs, Christian leaders, and Muslim leaders in Nsawam, underscoring his commitment to unity and his ability to inspire Ghanaians across different communities.
He stressed the importance of maintaining the NPP's momentum to build on its achievements and detailed how his digitalization agenda could further benefit the nation. Dr. Bawumia also criticized his political opponent, Mr. Mahama, arguing that a single-term presidency would limit accountability to the Ghanaian people.
He concluded by urging residents to support his candidacy, asserting that Ghana needs a leader with fresh ideas, integrity, and a commitment to best practices to drive the nation's development forward.
