The opposition National Democratic Congress has accused the Akufo-Addo/Bawumi New Patriotic Party government of rampant corruption.
Addressing a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, August 7, the NDC's National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi said "Massive uncontrolled corruption has become the order of the day under the nation-wrecking Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/NPP government."
Sammy Gyamfi lamented that while Ghanaians face extreme hardship with rising costs of living, one thing that is thriving is corruption.
"Yet, amid all this suffering, one thing is thriving – CORRUPTION! 'Massive uncontrolled corruption', as the Catholic Bishops Conference described it, has become the order of the day under the nation-wrecking Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/NPP government," he said.
The NDC spokesperson accused the Vice President and 2024 NPP flagbearer Dr. Bawumia of benefitting the most from dubious sole-sourced contracts.
Sammy Gyamfi cited overpriced contracts worth over GH¢218 million that were sole-sourced to a company belonging to Bawumia's brother for works including roads and Sunyani Airport rehabilitation.
He expressed shock that the same Bawumia who criticized sole-sourcing and overpricing when in opposition has now allegedly become the "biggest promoter and beneficiary" of the deals through his relative's company.
"Time has once again exposed the dishonesty and duplicity of the chronic liar, Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia on the issue of sole sourcing.
“Today, we shall demonstrate to you, how Bawumia never meant a single thing he said against sole sourcing while in opposition, and how he and his family have become the biggest beneficiaries of dubious and overpriced sole-sourced contracts under this corrupt, nation-wrecking NPP government," Sammy Gyamfi asserted.
The NDC says it will conduct investigations and prosecute perpetrators of corruption under the Akufo-Addo government should they win the 2024 elections.

Gyamfi, the most incompetent and corrupt government so far in this 4th republic was the Mahama/Amissah government. The reason why they lost the 2016 election by over 1 million votes. Never again shall Ghanaians bring back the incompetent one/ John Dariga Mahama.
