Professor Joseph Kwasi Agyemang has encouraged Ghanaians to pursue education even if their families face financial difficulties.

“Education is incredibly important; in today’s world, without a certain level of education, it can be extremely difficult to succeed in life," Professor Agyemang said.

He urged those aspiring to achieve his level of academic success to let God be their guide and to remain determined in their pursuits. He advised them to seek mentorship and advice from those who have excelled in their desired fields. However, he cautioned against sharing their aspirations with too many people, as this could invite discouragement from others.

“The Bible even states that those who guard their mouths and tongues keep themselves from calamity”, he added, citing Proverbs 21:23 (NIV).

Professor Agyemang holds the distinction of being the first person in the world to earn three unique PhDs in accounting. He shared this advice during an interview on Resurrection Radio/Fm in Kumasi last week.

Professor Agyemang noted that the increase in universities in Ghana is a positive development. However, he emphasized that to truly benefit the country, these institutions must ensure their programmes contribute to the greater good rather than focusing solely on monetary gains.

He is a Senior Lecturer in the Accounting and Finance Department at the University of Eswatini and serves as an external supervisor for doctoral and master’s students at the University of South Africa. His PhDs include PhD in Accounting Sciences (Auditing) from the University of South Africa, PhD in Accounting (Accounting Information) from Al Madinah International University in Malaysia, and PhD in Accounting (Public Sector Accounting) from Universidad Central de Nicaragua in Nicaragua.
