In a few days, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is expected to visit the Chiana-Paga Constituency. This visit, rather than being a moment of pride and anticipation, fills many of us with frustration and anger. The route he will travel, leading to Mirigu, is a stark reminder of the neglect and betrayal we have endured under his watch. Despite years of pleas and demands, these roads remain in deplorable conditions, symbolizing the broken promises and dashed hopes of our community.
During what was touted as the "year of roads," Chiana-Paga was conspicuously neglected. Our faith in your leadership dwindled as we realized that we were not a priority. Now, as your tenure draws to a close, we hold little hope that our voices will finally be heard.
Our constituency has faced years of neglect, if not outright disrespect, from your administration. Dr. Bawumia, what message do you have for us now? When you promised Ghanaians 350 senior high schools, how many were allocated to Chiana-Paga Constituency? None. Our children continue to struggle in under-resourced schools while you boast of educational reforms.
The one village, one dam policy, which you paraded as a cornerstone of your development agenda, has proven to be nothing more than a mirage. These dams, promised to improve our agricultural productivity and water supply, remain non-existent. So, what message do you have for the people of Chiana-Paga? How do you justify this glaring failure?
Your one district, one factory policy also bypassed us. While other districts may have seen some semblance of development, we received nothing but empty promises. The so-called "factory" you built in our constituency stands as a mockery, a mere "compound house" without a CEO, production, or any tangible benefits. Should we be grateful for this insult?
Furthermore, our constituency has been entirely neglected in terms of political appointments. Not a single minister, deputy, or CEO hails from Chiana-Paga. Are we so unworthy in your eyes? Should the people of Chiana-Paga still vote for you when you have consistently overlooked us?
Dr. Bawumia, your visit is a painful reminder of our marginalization. It is as useless as many will describe it. My only advice to you, as a fellow Mamprusi, is to hold tight to the little dignity you have left. The name of Mamprugu should not be further tarnished by your failures. If there is any future opportunity for us to serve our beloved Ghana, let it not be stained by the neglect and disdain we have experienced under your administration.
We deserve better, and we demand accountability. Your visit should not be a mere formality but a moment of genuine reflection and a commitment to right the wrongs we have suffered. The people of Chiana-Paga will no longer be silent. Our voices will be heard, and our demands will be met.
