The presentation of the 2024 mid-year budget review to Parliament has been delayed due to the absence of the minority caucus.

Channel One News' Parliamentary correspondent, Nii Ayikwei Okine, reports that the Minority MPs are protesting the delay in the release of their common fund.

Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the Finance Minister, is scheduled to present the 2024 Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament today, Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

The presentation is intended to update the House on the implementation of the government's 2024 Budget and to provide revised financial plans and an updated economic outlook for Ghana.

In a statement dated Monday, July 22, the Ministry announced that the review would provide an update on the implementation of the 2024 budget, offering insights into the economic and fiscal performance for the first half of the year. This includes updates on growth measures, revenue, expenditure performance, financing, and debt sustainability.

The minority members, however, have expressed dissatisfaction with the delay in the disbursement of the common fund, which they deem essential for carrying out their parliamentary duties and responsibilities.

Paul Twum-Barimah, the Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, clarified to Channel One News’ Parliamentary Correspondent, Nii Ayikwei Okine, that the minority members are currently in a caucus meeting and are not boycotting the Finance Minister's presentation.
