On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, parts of Accra experienced severe flooding after a heavy downpour, causing significant disruptions to vehicular traffic across the city.
Major routes, including the stretch from the Airport through Shangri-La to Shiashie, were heavily affected, leading to extensive traffic congestion.
Other impacted areas included Tantra Hill, Adabraka Sahara, the Ofankor-Pokuase stretch, the Accra-Tema motorway, and Kaneshie First Light.
The floodwaters severely impacted road users and businesses, leaving key roads submerged and impassable.
Many commuters were forced to park their cars, waiting for the rain to subside, while others navigated the flood-covered roads cautiously to avoid water damage to their engines.
The flooding also forced numerous shops to close, further exacerbating the disruption.
