Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., has issued a warning to the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana to avoid errors and technical glitches that could lead to chaos during the December 7 polls.
Reflecting on the recent limited registration exercise, the renowned journalist noted that the EC encountered technical issues and arithmetic errors on the second and third days of the event, although these mistakes were eventually corrected.
He expressed concern over the potential consequences if similar errors occur during the main elections on December 7.
During his appearance on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, Pratt highlighted the EC's handling of the 2020 elections, where the Commission had to change the results three times, casting doubts on the credibility of the process.
He further emphasized the need for the EC to ensure this year's elections are free from confusion, errors and possible chaos.
"What is the assurance that no person will lose their lives in this year's elections?
“The EC is responsible for the security of elections... The Police and soldiers can come there, but the EC has the responsibility for protecting the elections," he stated.
