Serwaa Amihere, a Ghanaian broadcaster has finally addressed the viral intimate video that surfaced on the internet on April 2.
The video, recorded five years ago, according to her, has not only affected her personal life but has also caused embarrassment to her family, loved ones, employers, and the businesses and brands she represents.
Speaking about the situation in a statement dated April 24, Miss Amihere expressed her sincere apologies for any disappointment, frustration, and embarrassment caused by the matter.
The video's unexpected release, following five months of threats and extortion attempts, has deeply affected her and the support system that has been instrumental throughout her media journey.
In her statement, the broadcaster admitted underestimating the extent of her influence and the significance she would come to hold within society at the time she recorded the video.
"At the time, five years ago, I considerably underestimated the extent of my influence, my potential, what I would become, and what I would come to represent to this society,” read part of the statement.
Despite the ordeal, Miss Amihere expressed gratitude for the unwavering support she has received from her family, loved ones, and the businesses and brands she represents.
"The video has been a source of frustration to all who have been my support, inspiration, and encouragement throughout my journey in the media,” she noted.
Amihere further emphasized that the distressing incident has provided her with invaluable lessons for the future.
"In all, I have learnt deeply useful lessons for the future,” she noted in the concluding part of her statement.
Meanwhile, the state has sued those behind the release of the video for extortion and blackmail following a complaint from the broadcaster.
