Over 170 women in Agrifood value chain receive training at Dormaa East

A two-day capacity building workshop to strengthen the capacities and involvement of women in the Agrifood value chain has been organized in the Dormaa East District Capital Wamfie from the 21st to 22nd of November, 2023.

Over 170 women in different engagements of the agribusiness sector, were trained in strategies for accessing both the local and global markets, Business Registration and its Regulations, Post-Harvest Management, Digital Marketing and other technologies and innovations.

WAN-Hive Ghana, an NGO which focuses on women’s training and mentorship organized and facilitated the training sponsored by Kosomos Innovation Center (KIC) also an NGO into empowering women.

The event forms part of other deliberate attempts by the leadership of the Dormaa East District Assembly (DEDA) through established networks, to create a buoyant economy within the district, by empowering and investing in its local human capital.

The intention will also go a long way, to increase production, boost food security, increase modern technologies among women and improve livelihood as well as sustain businesses for the economic development of the district.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Agyeman at the opening session of the programme, encouraged the beneficiaries to capitalise on the opportunity, to improve upon their businesses and incomes. He also underscored the importance of hard work and honesty at the beginning of all enterprises.

The founder of WAN-Hive Ghana, Madam Janat Issifu during one of the interaction sessions, advised the participants to endeavor to register their businesses, irrespective of their smallness for other benefits available.
