You failed when offered the opportunity, now you're claiming to be a changed person; we won't agree your pure lies — Akufo-Addo to Mahama

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cautioned Ghanaians not to pay attention to the fresh promises made by former President John Dramani Mahama as the country approaches the 2024 elections.

The president asserted that Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, failed to deliver during his term when he had the opportunity to govern the country.

During a visit to the Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti Region, President Akufo-Addo expressed doubts about Mahama's claims of being a changed person and emphasised the need for voters to critically assess the track record of the former president before making a choice.

“We are going into elections again, and the person who failed to deliver has come back claiming to be a changed person who needs to be considered.

“You failed when you were offered the opportunity, and now you are claiming to be a changed person. What shows you are indeed a changed person? It is pure deception, and we won’t agree. Will you agree?” questioned President Akufo-Addo.

The president cautioned against falling for tribal and religious politics, urging voters to prioritise competence and qualifications when making their decision.

He urges voters to vote for Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to succeed him, emphasising that factors such as one's origin or religious beliefs should not be the primary considerations.

“Where you are from or what you worship is not important. What is important is your skillset and what you have to offer,” President Akufo-Addo stated.
