Togo Navy Ship, OTI P. 764 and her crew members led by Lt Afanvi Lonlonyo made a stop-over at the Western Naval Command (WNC), Sekondi from Thursday, 12 to Friday 13 October 2023.
The visit was to enable them to familiarise themselves with the Command's activities and to help strengthen the existing good relationship between the two countries.

The team paid a courtesy call on the Flag Officer Fleet (FOF), Commodore Samuel Ayelazono who was at the time acting as the Flag Officer Commanding.
Commodore Ayelazono was pleased with the team’s decision to stop over and noted that as neighbouring allies, they needed to strengthen their mutual relationship and work together to fight the influx of maritime challenges that had bedevilled the Gulf of Guinea.

The Commanding Officer of the Togo Navy Ship, Lt Afanvi Lonlonyo expressed his appreciation on behalf of the crew and the Togo Navy to the Western Naval Command, the Ghana Navy at large for the warm reception accorded them.
He stated that their presence was part of strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

He also shared the view of the two nation’s navies working together tirelessly for the development of the blue economy, which he said was one of the indispensable factors for developing the continent.
He said it was therefore imperative for them to ensure maritime security and safety that were conducive to maritime trade for the benefit of the sub-region.

The team later toured the Naval Logistics Command, the Ghana Navy Supply Base (GNSB) and the Takoradi Harbour. They climaxed their visit with a cocktail reception on board the vessel which was graced by the Togo Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Panassa Awoki.
