The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reacted to a comment by former President John Mahama that he is grateful to God for not winning the 2020 elections for God to expose the current Akufo-Addo’s government for the lies and deception.
The ruling party said the statement is an indication that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is not ready to govern Ghana.
National Communications Director of the NPP, Richard Ahiagbah in a tweet on Monday, May 22, said Mr. Mahama’s comments show the NDC is incapable of resolving Ghana’s challenges even after 7 years in opposition.
The NPP spokesperson further called on Ghanaians to support the NPP government to “deliver them from the economic quagmire.”
“This from former President Mahama...means that the NDC still doesn't have what it takes to confront Ghana's problems after 7 years in opposition. NPP is our hope, let's build it together,” his tweet reads.

Mr. Ahiagbah was reacting to a statement by Mr. Mahama during a thanksgiving service on Sunday at the Ringway Gospel Centre Assemblies of God, Accra.
Mr. Mahama said the NDC is grateful to God for not making them win the last general election and be confronted by the current economic hardship.
He stressed that everything happening in the country is by God and in the right time, which the former President believed to be 2024, the NDC will oust the NPP.
“In 2020 again, we went for the elections and we lost. Again we came here after the Supreme Court case and we gave thanks to God for his mercy and in protecting us.
“As I said our ways are not his ways but on hindsight when I think about it we owe him a debt of gratitude that we didn’t win in 2020, we would have been giving these haircuts and all these IMF wahala,” the former President said.
He stressed, “[God]said, this is not the time my children, you stand aside and we know that he will make things well in his own time.”

That's not true, what he means is that for Ghanaians to understand the distinction between what Akufo Addo meant by incompetence. As we know, the president is the incompetent one.
