The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Forestry Commission have presented relief items to victims of the recent flooding in Samreboi in the Western Region.
The donation, made on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, is intended to support families affected by the floods and provide immediate relief as they recover from the disaster.
The presentation was carried out by the Technical Director of Forestry at the Ministry, Mr. Joseph Osiakwan, who represented the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, during a ceremony on Monday, June 29.
"The donation was intended to assure the affected residents that they are not alone during this difficult period," the Ministry said in a statement shared on its official social media platforms on Tuesday, June 30.
The relief package included 20 camp beds, 200 pairs of Wellington boots, 100 raincoats, 600 cutlasses, 130 mosquito nets, 100 bags of rice, 50 boxes of cooking oil, 50 boxes of canned mackerel and 50 boxes of canned tomatoes.
According to the Ministry, the gesture reflects the government's commitment to supporting communities affected by natural disasters.
"The Government and its agencies remain committed to supporting communities impacted by the floods," the statement added.
They further urged residents and community leaders to work together to address the underlying causes of flooding to reduce the risk of similar incidents in the future.
