'We are with you' -- Black Stars Coach sympathises with victims of June 29 floods 

The Black Stars have expressed solidarity with victims of the devastating floods that struck parts of Accra and other communities.

The message comes after heavy rains on Monday, June 29, caused widespread flooding across the capital and other parts of southern Ghana, resulting in deaths, displacement and extensive damage to property.

The national team is currently in the United States preparing for Saturday's knockout fixture against Colombia in Kansas City after progressing from the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

"To the families who have lost loved ones, those who have been displaced from their homes, and everyone affected, we are with you. The images and reports from home are heartbreaking, and even though we are here preparing for our World Cup match against Colombia, our thoughts have not left Ghana," Black Stars Head Coach Carlos Queiroz said in a statement on behalf of the team.

The Portuguese coach said the tragedy serves as a reminder that national unity is more important than football, describing the flooding as a difficult moment for the country.

He assured Ghanaians that the players and technical team would carry the victims in their hearts when they take to the field against Colombia.

"We will carry the people of Accra in our hearts when we walk out at Kansas City Stadium on July 3. Your resilience is our inspiration. We will give everything to make you proud and to bring some hope in this difficult time," Queiroz stated.

The Black Stars are expected to travel to Kansas City on Wednesday to continue preparations for the highly anticipated Round of 32 encounter after concluding training in Rhode Island.
