World Veteran Federation elects former Deputy Defence Minister Major Derrick Oduro Rtd

The former Deputy Defence Minister, Major Derrick Oduro Rtd, has been elected by the World Veterans Federation (WVF) to its Treasury General position.

The Ghanaian politician was elected among others to lead the world’s largest international veteran organisation for the next four years at the 175th meeting of the EB at Belgrade Serbia on 9th March 2023.

The former Member of Parliament for the Nkoranza North Constituency is also reported to have been elected again to lead the Federation in Africa during the same meeting.

He made the disclosure during an interview on Hot 93.9 FM’s Hot Morning Drive with Agya Wusu Ansah, the host while promising to work hard to maintain the best security practices enjoyed so far by the globe.

The acting Secretary General (SG) Mr Dan Viggo Bergtun of Norway was also elected to the SG position to lead the Federation for a four-year term.

The WVF is a humanitarian organisation, a charity and a peace activist movement. The WVF maintains its consultative status with the United Nations since 1951 and was conferred the title of “Peace Messenger” in 1987. The WVF was nominated for Nobel Peace Prize 8 times.

Derrick Oduro is a Ghanaian politician who is also a retired Major of the Ghana Army. He is a member of the New Patriotic Party and the former Deputy Minister for Defence in Ghana.
