The District Chief Executive of Dormaa East (DCE), Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Agyeman has on Tuesday January 10, 2023 visited eight public basic schools in Wamfie to mark “My First Day at School”.
The event allowed the DCE, as well as the District Education Director and other officials in his company to welcome the fresh entrants of about 85 pupils to Kindergarten one and primary of the schools visited.
It was an opportunity for the DCE and his entourage to interact with the teachers and the new pupils to symbolize the day of reopening and to encourage joy among the little ones with some kalypo drinks as they begin the journey of education.
The schools visited were Roman Catholic Primary and KG A and B, Presbyterian Primary and KG A and B, Methodist Primary and KG, SDA Primary and KG, Islamic Primary and KG and Anglican Primary and KG all in Wamfie, the District Capital. However, all the other public schools in the District were equally visited by staff of the Education Directorate to mark the day.
The District Director of Education, Mr. Philip Adom Danso who alongside his PRO and the DCE inspected the teachers log books, commended the teachers for their consistency and promptness to school. Those who had issues, he encouraged them to do well this year. He also appealed to school children to avoid habits that can destroy their future.
The Director also appealed to the teachers to be good models to the school children and by their way of teaching, help the children acquire the requisite knowledge needed for a solid foundation to realize their dreams and aspirations.
The DCE, Hon Emmanuel Kofi Agyeman, conscientised the children to see themselves as the next generation who would transform and build the nation when the current leaders are no more. He again appealed to them to be respectful, obedient and submit to authority to enable their hard work payoff.
Hon. Kofi Agyeman who on behalf of the District, welcomed each beginner with a kalypo drink, prayed, invoking the blessings of God upon them. He as well made time to listen to the needs and concerns raised in some of the schools.
In an interaction, some of the children who only saw their parent’s jobs as the only existing employment mentioned them as their future employment. Some said they would be food vendors, hairdressers, mechanics, builders, soldiers, nurses, policemen and so on in future.
