The Deputy Minister of Finance, Dr. John Kumah has emphatically stated that government has not contracted Express Pay to build a cloud for the implementation of the E-Levy at a cost of $40 million.
Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam Nartey George had alleged that government had contracted Express pay, an e-commerce marketplace and a payment gateway provider, to build a cloud system for the implementation of the E-levy at a tune of US$40 million.
However, the Deputy Minister asserts that government is not even in business with Express Pay.
In answering the host, Benjamin Akakpos question whether there is any truth in Sam Georges's statement, John Kumah stated, “that is a complete falsehood. There is no iota of truth. Complete falsehood. As far as I know, express pay is not playing any role in the role out of the E-levy and there is no contract to that effect.”
He asserted that government by May 1 will roll out the Electronic Transaction Levy (E-Levy) at full capacity "live and coloured."
