Western Show Boys’ Eleven Wise played their hearts out only to lose 0-1 to the defending champions Hearts of Oak in their league match at the Sekondi Gyandu Park yesterday. Man-of -the –match was the centre forward Dan Kayede who grabbed the only goal in the seventh minute.
The international star collected a pass in the mid-field, raced with the bal and with flexible body swerves, beat a defender before cleverly lobbing the ball beyond the reach of the goalkeeper Isaac Ansah of Wise.
Play from this stage became really thrilling. In the 29th minute, however, the FIFA referee Osei Tutu caused confusion when he committed an unpardonable blunder whistling for a goal when the ball did not enter the net. It all happened when left winger Kofi Abbrey of Wise took a lovely corner-kick which hit the roof of the net. To the utter surprise of the capacity crowd, Mr Osei Tutu signaled for a goal.
Hearts protested vehemently and the game was held up for sometime. When the referee eventually changed his mind, supporters of the home team rushed in on him, but peace offenders were at hand to restore order.
